How does the Roam Safe Tracker work?

The Roam Safe Tracker is designed to keep your pet safe and provide you with peace of mind. It uses GPS and cellular technology, with a built-in 500MB SIM card, to track your pet’s location across Australia.

Much like a phone, the tracker requires adequate cellular coverage in your area to function as intended. It automatically connects to the strongest available network, ensuring reliable performance when there is sufficient reception. However, the device’s tracking capabilities may be impacted if you live in or frequently visit areas with limited cellular coverage.

Using the Roamr app, you can:

• View your pet’s location in real time.
• Set up virtual boundaries and receive alerts if your pet leaves them.
• Activate a 10-minute Live Tracking mode for updates every 10 seconds in urgent situations.

For suburban and inner-city customers whose property boundaries are very close to their neighbors, we highly recommend purchasing our Bluetooth Beacons. Relying solely on your Wi-Fi range can potentially extend to nearby properties, which may not provide a precise safe zone. These beacons create a smaller, more reliable tracking zone, and you can use multiple beacons to define a more accurate area for your pet's safety.

Yes, that’s correct! We’ve eliminated subscription fees with our NEW 10 Year* SIM card, which provides 500 MB of data. This data is estimated to last up to 10 years based on average usage of about 4 MB per month. Note that actual usage may vary, and the plan remains active until the data is fully used or the 10-year period concludes, whichever comes first.

Battery Life and Location Updates

Important: You can check your pet’s live location at any time by opening the app and pressing 'Update.'

Battery Life:

• The battery life depends on the strength of the connection to nearby cellular towers.
• Typically, the device lasts 4–5 days on a single charge.
• Fully recharging the battery takes just 30 minutes.
  

Location Updates:

• The device updates its location every 45 seconds in the app during normal use.
• In an emergency, you can activate ‘Live Tracking’ mode for updates every 10 seconds for 10 minutes. After that, it will return to the regular update interval.

Apple AirTags rely on iPhone proximity to track items and need to be within about 200 feet of an iPhone to work. If your pet is outside that range or in an area without nearby iPhones, the AirTag won’t be effective. In contrast, the Roamr Tracker uses GPS and cellular technology to provide real-time location data, no matter where your pet is, without depending on nearby devices.

A microchip isn't the same as a GPS device and can't be used to track your pet’s whereabouts. It’s simply a unique identifier (think of it like your pet's social security number) that’s implanted so it can’t be lost. While microchips are an essential backup for pet identification, they should never be relied on as the primary solution for locating your pet.

Absolutely! Our app lets you add and manage as many pets as you'd like, with the ability to switch between profiles and share access with friends and family. Keep in mind, each pet will need its own tracker, but after that, tracking them all is a breeze!

The tracker attachment has an opening of 25mm x 3mm at either end for sliding the collar and buckles through. Since it's silicone, it can stretch to accommodate a slightly larger or thicker collar.
For Cat's, the tracker is best suited on medium to larger sized cats.
