What does the LIVE button do?
Pressing the Live button on the main map screen puts the tracker into "Live" tracking mode which updates the tracker's location every 10 seconds for a duration of 10 minutes.
After this 10 minute interval the tracker reverts back to its regular smart mode. This feature cannot be enabled to operate all the time.
Live tracking mode cannot be enabled when the tracker is in "At Home" mode or in range of any Bluetooth beacons or Wi-Fi that have been set. Using this mode significantly reduces the tracker's average battery life so keep that in mind when using this tracking mode.
Can I change the location update frequency?
The default working mode of the tracker is unable to be changed.
If you would like a more frequent tracking interval you can use the "Live" tracking option on the main map screen which puts the tracker into a temporary mode that updates the tracker's location every 10 seconds for a duration of 10 minutes. After this 10 minute interval it reverts back to its default mode settings of either "I am out" and "At Home".
Using Live tracking mode will increase battery usage so we advise using it on an as needed basis.
Understanding the status updates on the APP
The Roamr Pet Tracker operates using a "Smart" power saving mode which enables the device to enter and exit standby modes to conserve battery under certain conditions.
The tracker operates in either an "At Home" or "I am Out" mode and the conditions for these modes are listed below:
"I am Out" Mode
This mode is triggered when the tracker is not in range of any BLE or Wi-Fi signal and uses cellular and GPS technologies to locate the tracker. This is an active tracking mode.
When pet is moving: Location is updated every 45 seconds / 5 Minutes / 10 Minutes
"At Home" Mode
This mode is triggered when the tracker is in range of any Safe Zones that have been set, or any BLE or Wi-Fi devices. The active GPS tracking shuts down and uses these resources to approximate the trackers
location. This is a non-active tracking mode.
When pet is moving, the location is updated every 1 hour
When pet is not moving, the location is updated every 2 hours.
How much data does the tracker use?
On average, the tracker will use anywhere between 3MB-5MB per month of data, depending on the settings of the tracker and the data transmission time interval.
Is the APP made by Roamr?
The app was not developed by us here at Roamr as we are a only a distributor of the Pet tracker. The app was developed by the manufacturer of the device as a custom built pet tracking app that works right out of the box.
If you require any app support for the app beyond the articles in our Knowledge Base or if you have any feedback about the app please email us at hello@roamr.co.
How do I track my pet's location history?
See below instructions:
How do I add a second device to my account?
See below instructions:
How do I set up a geofence to get alerts when my pet has left my property?
Select the circled areas from the screenshots below to navigate your way to adding your own Geofence.
Be sure to cover your property, and not set the geofence outside your property as you will be alerted when your pet leaves and enters the geofence area.
Will I be notified if my pet leaves the home wifi area?
Yes, you will be notified when your pet leaves the wifi area. This may not always be useful, as some wifi zones are larger than the boundaries of the home. When this issue occurs for you, then you will need to set up a dangerous zone over the top of your home in order to receive notifications when your pet leaves the area. If this does not work, you will need to remove the wifi which is located in Safe Zone Settings.
Do not set up dangerous zones outside the 4 sides of your home. It is designed to act as a normal geofence, so set it up around the perimteres of your home, or where you would like to be alerted when your pet leaves and enters the home.
I've lost my setup guide, what do I do?
- Why does it say 'Disconnected'
- My tracker is not connecting. What do I do?
- How do I unbind my tracker and start again?
- Do I need to enable permissions?
- What is the button on the tracker for?
- 'No real time data available'
Why does it say 'Disconnected'
The Profile page is where all settings are altered on the device, and when it states that the device is 'disconnected', this means that it is disconnected from Bluetooth on your phone. The device will show what it is connected to on the right side of that message.
You can ignore when it states 'Disconnected'. Your tracker will still work via GPS on the mobile network.
My tracker is not connecting. What do I do?
If your device is not connecting to the network, you need to ensure you have put the device outside for 2 hours, and press the buttons mutliple times which helps to jumpstart the device into finding nearby towers.
Some devices take longer than others to connect as it is dependant on how many towers there are in your area, as it will calculate the best network to provide you with the most accurate location.
Give it time, and if you feel you have set the device up wrong after multiple hours of it beign set up, you can read the article on how to unbind the tracker and start over.
How do I unbind my tracker and start again?
1. Select PROFILE > Tracker tab > Write down your IMEI number on the top of the screen
2. Select the Pet tab > Select the Pencil icon and then the BIN icon to remove the device from your account.
3. When you re-add the device to your account, and you get to the APN screen, make sure it is iot.1nce.net
**Leave the username and password BLANK**
Do I need to enable permissions?
In order for the app to function with our trackers you must enable Bluetooth and Location permissions for the app. It is preferable to enable these when first setting up the app after installation. When the app is launched for the first time you should be notified by your phone that KatchU requires permissions.
Bluetooth
Bluetooth permissions are required because the tracker uses a Bluetooth connection with the tracker to communicate any updates or settings changes made in the app. BLE is also required if you wish to utilise Bluetooth Beacons around your home to increase indoor tracking accuracy.
Please enable BLE permission if requested.
What is the button on the tracker for?
The Roamr Safe Pet Tracker button has a straightforward purpose. It is primarily used to power the device on and off. The tracker pairs with the Roamr app, allowing you to track your pet in real-time.To check the battery status on the tracker, you can push the button once on the device, and the meaning of each flash identifies the battery level.
1 x red flash = below 20% battery
2 x red flashes = 20 - 50% battery
3 x red flashes = 50 - 80% battery
4 x red flashes = above 80% battery
Some Roamr accessories, like the LED Night Collar, have their own buttons for adjusting visibility settings during night walks, but these do not involve the tracking functionality.
'No real time data available'
Some trackers take longer than others to connect. In some cases, when you believe you have followed all instructions from the articles, you can simply delete the APP, and reinstall it. Once you log back in, press the button on the device and walk away from you wifi area so it connects to nearby mobile towers, and finds a location.
